The Naked and Famous

The Naked and Famous single “Young Blood” has been all over the place the last few months. Young Blood débuted this May on the New Zealand Singles Chart at number one, leading to a Silver Scroll award for Song of the Year. Afterwards it was used several times on C4, a MediaWorks New Zealand television station.

Yes, Young Blood is a good track; great even. I can’t argue that. That said, I find the song a little overly familiar (think MGMT, Passion Pit, Temper Trap) but that aside, the rest of their album is great too. Which is why these guys (and gal) are worth posting about. These kiwi’s craft powerful synth pop anthems that are hard to forget and even harder not to like. Their songs are crowd pleasers that will most likely attract a global fan base and other mainstream commercial uses (think Phoenix 1901 and Cadillac).

Their LP “Passive Me, Aggressive You” isn’t available on iTunes in the states yet but check out Young Blood and a few other The Naked and Famous tracks below. Check back on iTunes regularly for when the album releases and scoop it up immediately. This band is going to be huge very soon.
