Chillwave Wednesday XXVII
Chillwave Wednesday is back and we’re going to continue covering all of the best new chill music every week. To kick off the new year correctly, we are packing this week’s instalment with an extra large wave of chill starting with a couple of New York electronic producers who call themselves ASTR. Their track “Blue Hawaii” is a bit different than what you are used to if you’re a fan of ASTR, but we think it exactly just the right amount of chill + epic. Mausi puts their spin on the rising British stars in Clean Bandit; Luxxury re-imagines an Eagles classic with his remix of “Hotel California” and we have a brand new track from Flying Lotus that gives us a taste of his upcoming album due out later this year. To put the cherry on top, we’ve found a fantastic Louis Futon remix of Mos Def’s 90’s classic, “Ms. Fat Booty.”
ASTR – Blue Hawaii
You might remember this New York duo after the release of their hit “Operate” last April. They continue building their sound (a genre they like to call “Noir & B”) with their latest EP entitled “Varsity.” The EP dropped yesterday and is available on iTunes but first check out the single “Blue Hawaii” below.
Eagles – Hotel California (Luxxury Edit)
Clean Bandit – Dust Clears (Mausi Remix)
Bloum – Faith
Bloum, the electro four-piece from Paris, have unveiled another new track from their growing debut album. Download their 7 track EP including ‘Faith’ on the Bloum Soundcloud page.
Treasure Fingers & The Knocks – DYWT
Flying Lotus – Flotus
FlyLo has been pretty busy as of late. The LA based producer just released a 24 track Work-in-progress EP on twitter aptly named “Ideas+drafts+loops” late last year where he reveals a series of ideas that he has been working on. Some of the tracks do still sound like a work in progress but there are plenty of great cuts and some great vocal appearances from The Underachievers, Andreya Triana, and Nikki Randa and some collaborations with Shabazz Palaces, and Baths. Flying Lotus is putting the finishing touches on his new album, due out this year, and we’re hoping that this release is a good indicator of what it will sound like.
