Fuzzworthy: Fazerdaze

Have you ever heard the very first note of a song and immediately loved it? Such was the case this afternoon when I stumbled upon New Zealand’s Fazerdaze. Although the band sounds like it was selected from an alphabetized “Find-your-dreampop-name” viral list, there’s nothing contrived about their sound. Airy vocals, dreamy verb, beach-ready guitar fuzz, it’s everything I love in a genre that is becoming more and more saturated (in the best way). A sand-grain grittiness peels through the first few layers of the EP, alongside some genuine moments of self-reflective hopeless romanticism. It’s soul music for us hapless dreamers.

The beach rock revival is in full swing! Get groovy kids.
