Fuzzworthy: A La $ole

I was a stereotypical suburban white teenager. My jeans were low and I was heavy into hip-hop, albeit largely the alternative and underground. One of my favorite groups growing up was Hieroglyphics, comprised of Del, the Souls of Mischief, Pep Love, Casual, and a few others. Back when 50 Cent’s ‘Candy Shop’ was number one on the American Top 40, I was deep into the intellectual sub-culture of space rap, trip hop, and anything that strayed from the cultural norm of binge drinking and dancefloor intercourse. Unfortunately, a couple weeks back I missed the opportunity to see Souls of Mischief play their epic ’93 to Infinity album; I hadn’t even heard of the show until I was already at work that same evening, but I’ve had the underground on my mind ever since.

Admittedly, I don’t know much about A La $ole other than the fact that he’s part of a group called ‘Pro Era’, headlined by Brooklyn’s own Joey Badass. But if his latest single is any indication of his solo work to come, everyone is going to take notice very soon. The underground hip-hop movement is gaining ground once more, and I haven’t heard anything this good since.. well.. Hiero.
