Parallelle strike gold on their new single: “Tastes Like Gold”
French electronic duo Parallelle return with “Tastes Like Gold.” The track starts off with a silky, slow-burning groove that feels tailor-made for pool-side listening. Then they drop the sax on you just before the 2-minute mark and you’re off.
The two brothers of Dutch origin grew up in the South of France influenced by Jazz and Soul music – after having travelled the world enriching themselves in different cultures and sounds, are now settled in Amsterdam as composers, performing artists and label owner of “Klassified”.
“We collaborated with JoLy from Baltimore to bring warmth to the track,” explain the brothers. “This song is about those small, golden moments. Coffee in the morning, fresh flowers from the market, sunlight on your skin, someone you love by your side. It’s about how the simplest things can feel like everything.”
Where much of Parallelle’s catalogue skews toward jazz-infused house and global field-recording textures, “Tastes Like Gold” sits in a more reflective pocket. It’s melodic but understated; danceable but unhurried. It’s a piece that feels just as at home in a dimly-lit club as it does seaside at sunrise.
“Tastes Like Gold” comes via the Lisbon-based imprint FOLDER (via album 11th Avenue) and is out now.
