The new Nick Marks mixtape is all about the late night loops and soulful truths
Last time we caught up with Nick Marks was at the begining of the year when he released “Current Location (Vol. III).” Since then, the NYC-based, Melbourne native has been quietly crafting what he calls cinematic jazz electronica — soundtracks for the in-between moments of your day. Think lush Rhodes chords, smoky horn lines, threads of Latin rhythm, and beats that thump like a NYC subway train at 3am.
His latest track, “do wut u luv,” feels like a late-night confession — born from looping beats and instinct rather than perfection. It’s warm and analog, drenched in keys, live horns, subtle strings… it’s a quiet rebellion against overthinking. This isn’t music trying to impress you; it’s music trying to be with you — in your headphones on a rainy walk, in the kitchen from the early hours, or while you’re just figuring life out.
