Braille Face wrestles with distraction on his new single, “Pure Entertainment”
Australian producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jordan White (aka Braille Face) returns with “Pure Entertainment,” the latest single from his newly announced album Skipping Days (due out November 20).
White’s music lives somewhere between intricate electronic production and deeply personal songwriting. “Pure Entertainment” takes aim at the strange blur between politics, outrage, crisis and content, where everything arrives through the same endless scroll and even genuine urgency can start to feel like part of the show.
There’s a restless quality to the track that fits the subject perfectly. White sounds less interested in offering answers than sitting inside the discomfort of it all: the distraction, the burnout, the feeling that empathy itself has been turned into another commodity. Crucially, he doesn’t place himself above the problem either. He admits he’s been distracted too.
“I think lots of us feel like we’re stuck in that scene in a movie where they enter a circus tent full of mirrors,” explains White when talking about the new track. “‘Pure Entertainment’ is wrestling within the current ecosystem of populism and barker politics, which are endlessly distracting and keeping us docile in the face of pressing global breakdowns.”
“Pure Entertainment” follows recent single “<3” and offers another glimpse of Skipping Days, Braille Face’s first full-length album since 2020’s Original Cast Recording.
Now based in London, White seems to be entering a new phase with the project, both on record and live. If this single is any indication, Skipping Days will be less about escaping the noise than figuring out how to stay human inside it. And right now, that question feels especially difficult to ignore or dismiss.
