Dubai trio, The Recipe has just released the video for “Bandana.” It’s the second single off their upcoming album Funerals & Purgatory. The band says that the song highlights “today’s hiphop culture where masks are being worn everyday in order to fit in and sound relevant.” They continue by saying that “Courage is being yourself in a world that tells you to be someone else. We all wear masks, perhaps not in the literal sense, but masks nonetheless.”
There is a special kind of duality to a mask. Sometimes they can oppress who we really are and other times they can help us express ourselves more freely.
