Brazilian duo, Lucky Jesus put out some hypnotic, funked-out rhythms on their new Kick UR Bass EP
Both Lucas and Jesus (pronounced the latin way like “Heyzus”) had seen each other play separately in Brazil. In 2018 they decided to combine their similar taste in music to form Lucky Jesus.
Besides sharing musical influences and style, the duo had a vision for what they wanted to create. Whether they’re playing in a club or a cabin in the woods, their mission was to create tech-house music for the dance-floor.
The two producers have established themselves as purveyors of hypnotic and funked-out rhythms. The title track off of the EP, “Kick UR Bass” lives up to that reputation with an unnatural robotic vocal layer combined with a mesmeric percussion track.
The second track “Lucky Day” follows the underground pattern of the EP with a double dose of tribal energy through rolling percussive elements, shakers and synthetic drums. Vocal hits cut in from the background interrupting the more techno-centric synths.
Wrapping up the EP is “Lola Turbo” which switches up the signature sound for something more melodically percussive with a fast tempo burst of percussive hits which tighten and loosen from the beat grid with offkey timings to create a trippy atmosphere.
The Kick Ur Bass EP is available to buy now, but here’s the title track off of the record to give you a little taster:
