Colombian duo, S-candalo, usher in Berlin’s post-pandemic era with their take on maximalist house
S-candalo consists of sibling DJ duo Tania and Dominik Humeres-Correa (THC & DHC). Originally from Bogota, Colombia, the duo now lives in Berlin and have been steadily shaping the post-pandemic sound of the city — a city with a music scene that has been known for its foundation of minimal house and techno. S-candalo are shifting that foundation towards maximalist house and “more-is-more” club soundtracks. As Resident Advisor describes it: “It’s still house and techno, but the chords are big, the drums are big and the basslines are even bigger.”
It might be a controversial proposition in a city like Berlin, but I guess the clue is in the duo’s moniker — “S-candalo” roughly translates from Spanish into “It’s Scandalous” in English. The new Berlin sound has begun with S-Candalo’s new Resident Advisor mix: RA 956.
