Laeter’s latest album, “Dreaming of Something Nice,” is a beautifully meandering new record

We just got passed this new 11-track album from Australia-based producer, Liam Bosecke (aka Laeter), and it is a beautifully unpredictable, wandering, and ambient take on Liam’s quest for self discovery. The album is called “Dreaming of Something Nice” and it dips in and out of being structured and lightly percussive, to the more synth driven field recording environmental sound.

Laeter, who has been on hiatus for almost a decade after discovering, losing and rediscovering himself, is the founder of the micro-label Left of Field Records. A record label which might be best known for its focus on suicide prevention awareness and creating a small community of artists who would work together and share experiences.

After some time, he left the label to pursue a visual arts practice which culminated in a collaboration with outsider artist, Jungle Phillips. The project was called Dreem Room and was featured in an NYC exhibition and locally in an Adelaide cinema at Smock Gallery.

Shortly after Dreem Room, Liam shifted his experimental 3D visual practice to the back burner for a few years before focusing his attention on more commercial music making. All of that commercial appeal has been thrown out of the window now as Liam plans to release is upcoming album, “Dreaming of Something Nice.” This project sees Liam making music purely for himself now. As a starting point, he started to revisit the tracks that he kept coming back to even after all these years.

Dreaming of Something Nice‘ is the culmination of almost a decade of concepts, experiences, and meanderings,” explains Liam when talking about the upcoming release. “The recordings span between the years 2016 and 2025, and conceptually it offers a fragmented portrait of my ongoing journey of self-discovery and growth. The album is disjointed, meandering, and unpredictable. The human mind can summon forgotten moments, oscillating between stark contrasts. We are an imperfect narrator of our own shifting landscapes.

And indeed, the album acts as a soundtrack for this imperfect narrator as they navigate their own story. It is a story of self reflection, and self affirmation that Laeter seems to chart a journey through effortlessly.

Preview the first two singles from the album below (“Dreaming of Something Nice” and “It’s Comforting to Know”). The full 11-track album is available today on CD and all streaming services (Apple, Tidal, Spotify, Soundcloud, Bandcamp).
