Shad on a Saturday Morning
And so comes to a close another incredibly shit week. Wasn’t able to start the weekend off right on friday either, so im going to try again tonight. And the only thing I can think is better then waking up and watching saturday morning cartoons to turn your shitty week around, is turning up some 90’s hip hop and getting loose on the couch with a wake & bake pinner.
I’m not going to post a bunch of mid-nineties hip hop tracks, but I will tell you about this new dude Shad out of Canada that has got that smart “old school” sound. You have to check out his video, “Rose Garden.” It’s a nod to The Pharcyde’s “Drop” video where everything is filmed backwards, but he puts a brand new spin on it with a single shot shoot that starts out in reverse and then stops to go through the video forwards, everything matching up with the lyrics. Dope. In fact, this guys got a bunch of really great videos that you can see on his myspace. A lot of them are simple with a little twists in the details. Like in the “Yaa I Get It” video where it goes split screen, and one video interacts with the other. It’s a lot like his lyrics. Easy going and simple, but a lot of attention to the details.
