Sova finds beauty in the machinery on her new single “Quarry”
Sova is the new moniker of pianist and composer Sophia Vastek, and her new single feels like a pretty good introduction to this next chapter in her musical career.
The track is called “Quarry” and it started life as a sketch in a notebook nearly ten years ago. There’s something instantly hypnotic about Sova’s new single… Warm woodwinds drift over a tightly wound piano loop, slowly building into something that feels part baroque composition, part beautifully wonky machine.
“Quarry” is taken from Sova’s upcoming album Alight! (which is set to land next month via Hout Records. If you’re into Ólafur Arnalds, Hania Rani, or atmospheric modern classical music, this one’s well worth a listen.
