CAPYAC make you dance in a gentle sort of way with new single: “Big CrUsh En3rgY”

CAPYAC have always treated the dancefloor as a place where things can get a little strange. Formed in Austin and reshaped across Berlin and Los Angeles, the trio have spent the past decade folding funk, house and techno into something theatrical, unpredictable and vulnerable.

Their 2025 album Sobbing Ecstasy pushed that contrast into sharper focus, pairing euphoric grooves with an undercurrent of heartbreak. It was music for laughing through tears, or finding yourself unexpectedly emotional beneath a disco ball.

They’ve recently revisited their single “Big CrUsh En3rgY” with “Obie’s Nighttime Inversion,” …a hazier, after-hours reimagining of the original. Where the first version leaned into bright, guitar-driven funk, this one pulls the lights down. Lo-fi four-on-the-floor drums keep things moving while spacey synths and a warm, elastic groove drift between chillwave and electropop.

The result feels less like a remix than a change in perspective. It’s the restrained side of CAPYAC, but the band’s playful instincts are still intact. Rather than chasing the peak-hour rush, Obie’s inversion lingers in that strange, sweet moment after the party, when the room empties and the feelings finally catch up.
