fina turns growing up into a hazy memory on his new single “Daydreaming”

Jack Jobst (who performs as fina), is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer based in Brooklyn by way of Maryland. He has dialed in his sound through earnest songwriting with intricate syncopations and interwoven compositions. In his next EP, Daydreaming (set to release at the end of 2026), he embarks on putting it all out there, sharing his struggles and intimate feelings through six tracks that feel like diary entries.

In Jobst’s mind, there is something strange about getting older. The moments that felt completely ordinary at the time, from awkward limbs, old friends, family routines, half-formed ideas of who you might become, suddenly start to glow once they’re gone. That tension sits at the center of “Daydreaming,” the new single from fina.

Made with love and care in fina’s home studio, “Daydreaming” feels like looking through an old box of home videos and realizing that the person on screen had no idea how temporary everything was. The track is about growing into your adult body and only understanding the joy of that transformation in retrospect. Sonically, it carries that same push and pull: playful and warm on the surface, but with a quiet sense of loss running underneath.

“Daydreaming” is also the first glimpse of a new EP arriving in December. fina describes each song on the project as a kind of diary entry, opening up a more private inner world shaped by family, friendship, love, mental illness and the turning points that quietly divide one version of a life from another.

What makes “Daydreaming” such an inviting introduction is that it doesn’t arrive weighed down by all of that complexity. Instead, it opens the door gently. There’s nostalgia here, but not the cheap kind. It’s more like the slow realization that growing up is happening all the time …and sometimes you only notice the best parts after they’ve already disappeared.

Have a listen to the title single below, and look out for the EP at the end of this year.
