Sufjan Stevens Goes Hip Hop

It’s true! Sufjan Stevens is breaking out. Well, kind of anyway.

Vancouver-based producer Tor recently sampled Sufjans’ 2005 LP Illinoise, as well as 3 other albums, A Sun CameSeven Swans and Songs for Christmas, then mixed his guitar, piano, horns and sometimes vocals with MC’s Aesop Rock, Big Daddy Kane, Gift of Gab (Blackalicious), C.L. Smooth, Outkast, Brother Ali, and Grand Puba. This is definitely the smoothest and most unique FREE remix album since Amplive’s remix of Radiohead’s In Rainbows. It just goes to show you that not everything good in life costs money. Check out the tracks below and then download the whole album on tormusic.net.

In other Sufjan news . . .

Just after releasing his 60 minute long All Delighted People EP in August, he follows up with The Art of Adz (releases today Oct 12). The new album is his first LP of new songs in five years which features heavy use of electronics and augmented orchestration. Get The Art of Adz on iTunes.
