Swedish dreampop meets 90s psychedelic indie
Swedish 3-peice dreampop band, The Parade, came together where all good bands should come together: the pub. Their sound feels like it was born in Sweden but raised on the best bits of British record collections. They take inspiration from bands like The Cardigans, Morrissey, and bits of ABBA are all mixed up with the aesthetic of ’60s girl group The Sundays or the gauzy atmosphere of Cocteau Twins.
There new single, “How Long Will I Be Waiting,” builds with lush paisley melodies that twist in unexpected places. It’s a gentle explosion of pop, textured and alive, like finding an old photograph that somehow moves and breathes.
When asked about the song, the trio add: “Is it about the queue for the tax office? No it is not. Imagine St Etienne being force-fed Soul II Soul with a potential cardiac arrest thrown in for good measure.”
The Parade is a love letter, yes—but not just to the past. It’s a love letter to a way of making songs that feels increasingly rare. Before algorithms told you what you wanted to hear. Before streams and skips. When melody mattered more than metrics, and when the worst thing a band could do was get a bad haircut.
