The VooDoo Experience

The VooDoo Experience

To everyone who is planning on being in New Orleans for Hallo-weekend this year, you have made the right decision. For all of you who have chosen not to venture down to the swamp, you are an idiot. VooDoo Fest is synonymous with the best Halloween you will ever have. The three day festival, wreaking havoc on New Orleans from October 28th to 30th boasts six stages, catering to all tastes. If you like flashing lights and body pounding beats, head on over to Le Plur to hear electronic sounds of The Bangerz, Girl Talk, and Swiss Chriss. If bluegrass is more your thing, check out High Ground Drifters, Gordon Gano and The Lost Bayou Ramblers, and Ray Davies at Preservation Hall. More into the indi/alt bands? WWOZ is bringing in Dangermuffin, City and Colour, and Givers to play Le Flambeau. Or if you really just want to party like you are still in junior high, that’s cool too, because you can catch Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance over at the VooDoo main stage, Le Ritual.
Aside from all the amazing music that is crammed into these three short days, the name does not lie. This is an experience unlike any other, with giant light-up art installation throughout City Park, and booths selling everything from handmade jewelry to alligator tacos. VooDoo Fest is as close to falling down Alice’s rabbit hole as you are ever going to get, so why not take part in the New Orleans Hallo-weekend ritual? Come Worship the Music. Costumes mandatory.
