Victoria Bigelow explores love’s slow decay with dark, synth-driven new single
Victoria Bigelow ventures into darker territory with her new single “Rot” …a shadowy, synth-driven exploration of love as it begins to unravel. Written by Bigelow and co-produced alongside Devan Skaggs in their home studio in the desert, the track captures the unsettling space between holding on and letting go, where affection slowly gives way to desperation and emotional decay.
Built around a brooding electronic atmosphere, “Rot” trades romantic idealism for something far more uncomfortable. Its dark synth textures mirror the deterioration at the heart of the song, evoking a relationship that has passed the point of repair but remains difficult to abandon. There’s a sense of claustrophobia to its premise, as though the very thing that once offered comfort has become a source of suffocation.
The desert setting adds another intriguing dimension to the track’s creation, a place of isolation and stark beauty that feels well suited to its emotional landscape. Beautifully written and produced, “Rot” is addicively catchy.
