Amarg Archestra brings a rebellious spirit to the Jazz Underground this month

This month the Polish jazz ensemble, Amarg Archestra, takes over the mix with ten new tracks for the Jazz Underground. The quartet was assemble during a journey to Morocco when Antek, Bruno, Wojtek, and Franek got together to experiment with their shared love of rebellious improvisational music. Their unconventional approach challenges norms and aims to redefine jazz. Which is exactly the aim of this column. The Jazz Underground residency was conceived to try and change the perception of jazz’s rotten public image. Each month, a new resident artist will take over the playlist and help shape what jazz means now.

Have a listen to Amarg Archestra’s additions to the playlist below starting with their fantastic cover of “Space Is The Place” by Sun Ra. Or shuffle the mix up and see how the complexion of the Jazz Underground changes from month to month.
