French producer, Draumr releases blissed-out chillwave album entitled “Somewhere Stellar”
After a year of releasing singles and garnering support, French producer, Gabriel Cheurfa (aka Draumr) has now released his new album, Somewhere Stellar. Meaning “dream” in ancient Norse, the word “draumr” very nicely sums up Gabriel’s flavour of blissed-out chillwave with a French touch.
The new album follows the success of Draumr’s 2020 debut release, Drawn-Out Daydream. The title single off Somewhere Stellar invites the listener on a journey into a sun-soaked, feel-good world. It’s both cinematic and atmospheric but with a dream-pop undertone to it as well. It’s an album that captures a fleeting warmth and tranquility of the memory of a carefree summer as the sun just dips below the horizon. You are transported to a dreamscape where time isn’t important and the boundaries between reality and reverie blur together.
“‘Somewhere Stellar’ is more than just an album,” explains Cheurfa when talking about the new release. “[The album] is an invitation to peace, love, and understanding.”
To support the new album, Cheurfa has also released a series of six interconnected, self-directed, music videos that delve deeper in to Draumr’s enigmatic universe. The videos blur the lines between reality and fantasy.
Cheufra teamed up with English surrealist artist, Patrick Atkins, to create album artwork that serves as a visual portal into this solar dreamscape. The aim is to invite listeners in on a journey of self-discovery and introspection.
