Tucked away on a secluded beach in the Mediterranean, KALA might be the closest a boutique festival has ever come to being paradise

A new dance paradise: Kala festival debuted in 2018 and has quickly become a gem in the music festival calendar. With limited capacity and a secluded location, Kala is the ultimate boutique festival escape.

Set on a stunning beach location on the Albanian Riviera, the festival offers more than just an amazing selection of music at night — During the day, adventurers can take various hiking routes around the surrounding landscape or venture out into the Adriatic sea by boat to discover some of the breathtaking beaches nearby. For the more relaxed festival-goers, you can simply soak up the sun and enjoy daytime DJs and Albanian cuisine — a fusion of Italian and Greek influences with plenty of freshly caught seafood.

The expertly curated lineup has now been revealed for 2021, and the legendary soul diva, Jocelyn Brown joins the iconic Manchester electronic duo 808 State at the top of the bill. Adding to the live roster, Kelly Lee Owens, Alfa Mist, Gigi Masin, Erika de Casier, London Afrobeat Collective, Yu Su, Mount Liberation Unlimited, S.Moreira & band, Sven Atterton and Fehdah make for an eclectic lineup with plenty of opportunity to discover something new.

As a firm festival highlight, the dreamy beach canyon stage at Gjipe returns for another year. This beach forest sits at the end of a natural canyon and is not just an incredible setting for a rave, but the perfect place to spend the day too. Reachable only by a 10 min boat ride from Kala, the secluded nature reserve is a truly magical place to dance at the forest stage, relax on the beach, or take the short hike down the awe-inspiring canyon as distant music bounces along the towering red-stone walls. Brian Not Brian, Jamie Tiller, Jan Schulte, John Gómez, Lauren Hansom and Nick The Record once again make up the rotating roster of Gjipe residents.

Expert selectors, Palms Trax, Joy Orbison, and Young Marco will each play extended, five-hour sets, taking listeners on a sonic voyage beneath the stars until dawn.

From low-slung lazy beach days, to irradiant party vibes on the dancefloor, Kala have assembled some of the finest DJs to provide an unforgettable summer soundtrack. Jayda G, Antal, Prosumer, Tama Sumo, Shanti Celeste & Peach, Maurice Fulton, CC:Disco!, Psychemagik and Skee Mask are just some of the highlights, but with plenty of surprises and special sets on offer, there’s always something fun to discover.

There are only a handful of tickets left for Kala Festival 2021. Sign up here to be put on the list to get tickets.
