London-based producer, Ben Hayes teams up with Nubya Garcia for his new 4-track EP
The latest EP from Ben Hayes conjures up bright colors, shapes and textures with the soundscape it creates. Entitled See Sun, the four-track EP includes collaborations with Shivum Sharma, Izzy Risk and the rising queen of jazz, Nubya Garcia.
As a formally trained jazz musician, it would be an understatement to call Hayes simply a producer. With experience as a composer, DJ and sound designer, the London-based musician is equipped with a broad range of skills when it comes to pulling together a record. Along this experience, Hayes also brings a wealth of influences to the EP. Along with more traditional jazz, See Sun takes inspiration from 3D sound, the LA beat scene, electronica and even a bit of techno.
With the arrival of the See Sun EP, I’m putting Hayes up with other jazztronica stars including Flying Lotus, Alice Coltrane, Joe Armon-Jones, Maxwell Owin, Sam Gendel and Sam Wilkes. He’s expanding the boundaries of what we think of as “jazz music.”
