Saison team up with The Queen of Nu Disco, Amy Douglas, for the new house cut: “Dare Myself”

This week, Matt and Leigh from Saison have released a recent collaboration they’ve created with rising vocal star: Amy Douglas. Known for the way she combines her unapologetic rock and roll swagger with her songwriting genius, Douglas has often been called “The Queen of Nu Disco.” Amy has been the scribe behind some of dance music’s biggest names in recent memory. She’s written songs for Roisin Murphy, Juan MacLean, Treasure Fingers, The Crooked Man, 33Hz’s Tim Wagner, Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard, and disco juggernauts Horse Meat Disco. On top of all that, she’s a working DJ in New York City.

While Amy has been working her way up the ranks of Nu-Disco royalty, Matt and Leigh have been steadily carving our their niche in the deep house scene. They’ve released tracks on some of the most respected labels in house music including Defected, Toolroom, Large Music, Suara, Sonar Kollektiv, and more. They’ve remixed music from some of the biggest names in the scene as well.

Matt and Leigh were brought together to form Saison along very different musical paths. Matt grew up in the United States immersed in the Midwest rave scene. He was listening to house and techno and following electronic luminaries like Chez Damier, Ritchie Hawtin, Mike Huckaby, Derrick Carter, Armando and Terry Mullan (artists who still inspire and influence him to this day). While Leigh’s introduction to electronic music came via the illegal rave scene on the outskirts of London. He was initially introduced to acid house and breakbeat before moving into vocal garage and house after attending the legendary Rulin’ parties at Ministry of Sound.

Saison have now turned their hand to a bit of disco with their new collaboration with Amy Douglas. Their new single is called “Dare Myself” and it combines Amy’s irreverent disco style with their warm deep house groove. Have a listen to “Dare Myself” and try not to get your dancing shoes on.
