Self Taught Takes a 5 Year Journey

It’s hard not to post up an artist’s album when they tell you that they’d climbed a 2300ft mountain dressed head to toe as furry animals in the middle of the blistering summer with 70 liters of water strapped to their backs just to make a video so that they could get on our blog. And that is exactly what the Vancouver based trio Self Taught did.

No question, these guys work hard for the money and if climbing a mountain to spread their music wasn’t enough, they’ve just released a full length album entitled “5 Year Journey” …and yes, they’ve worked 5 long years on it. Self Taught puts the 5 Year Journey into perspective when they explain that the long production followed “a feverishly inconsistent pace with long hiatuses devoted to time leaching girlfriends and life sucking day jobs.”

Self Taught is made up of two producer/mc’s Vintage Herman and Cliff Herman as well as a soul singing crooner named Jay Robillard. They’ve made their album “5 Year Journey” Available on Bandcamp on a name your own price basis, but if you’ve read anything I just wrote above, you’d know that they deserve at least a $10-spot for 15 track album. Go support good music
