Thomas Mühlhoff teams up with Erik Buschmann to create some entrancing downtempo house
Millhope is Cologne-based producer and musician Thomas Mühlhoff. After graduating in jazz and pop music, Mühlhoff began to focus on composing music that leans more towards the downtempo chillwave and ambient sides of the genre. There is also an undeniable 80s influence on his sound, with nods to classic TV soundtracks like Knight Rider and Stranger Things. This gives his music a unique twist through the use of modern production techniques and a slower tempo.
“I wanted to create music that captured the eerie vibe of the pandemic, but also offered a sense of hope and optimism,” says Mühlhoff when speaking about the project. “This album is my way of processing the strange times we‘re living in, and I hope it resonates with people who are going through similar experiences.“
Last month Mühlhoff teams up with Erik Buschmann to create a remix of Millhope’s single, “Magnetic.” Buschmann gives the track a new twist by adding his signature blend of deep house rhythms and melodic soundscapes. The result is something both entrancing and energizing.
