White Sea “Mountaineer”
I’ll be honest. I’m a bit obsessed with Morgan Kibby and White Sea now. The topless vampires video she remixed got me interested, but her original stuff is quite good.
The Skinny: Morgan Kibby, chick from M83, amazing shoe gazy ambient vocalist. Started a side project that turned into a group. The group is called White Sea.
They released their first EP, “This Frontier” late last year on the Urban Outfitters site.

White Sea – Mountaineer
Rumor is that they are going to release an LP sometime this year. In the mean time Morgan Kibby has been pretty prolific as far as producing new work. White Sea released a new video for “Mountaineer” about a month ago which is pretty much awesome. It’s just like a bunch of face painted hipsters dressed up like Where the Wild Things Are dancing around the beach wearing feathers and being hipstery.
Then they released the remix of This Fronteer a couple of weeks ago on iTunes. Remixing an entire EP has been done before, but there is something special about this remix. Every song is different, and there is a great range of bands giving their interpretation of the album from Gigamesh, to Lord Huron. Recommendation = high.
