Afrobeat meets roots reggae with new album from English band: Me and My Friends

Imagine a blend of English folk music colliding head-on with the golden-era music of 1970s West Africa and the Caribbean music. This is the feeling you get when you listen to the UK-based band, Me and My Friends.

The band takes inspiration from sun-drenched vintage sounds of afrobeat, soukous, highlife and roots reggae, and then builds their sound around an instantly recognizable voice and finger-style guitar of songwriter and singer Nick Rasle.

So you can imagine that their new album, Look Up is set to be the soundtrack for the second half of your summer. The album ranges from soft intimate songs like “Another Lifetime” or “All Of This I Know” to catchy pop songs like “You Read My Mind.” The album is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. I challenge you NOT to bop your head around to the summery sounds of Me and My Friends.

Go pick up your copy of the album for just $8 on the Me and My Friends Bandcamp page.
