Capital Cities Debut EP / Music 4 Animals Single

Last week we posted a Memorial Day Mix that included the Los Angeles band Capital Cities (Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian). We actually had them listed as being from Australia at the time. Our bad. The band contacted us to thank us for helping promote the track “Safe and Sound” and to let us know that they were actually homegrown. Ryan and Sebu were also gracious enough to send us an advance of their debut EP which is scheduled for release on iTunes this week.

From the first track to the last, this EP is killer and has been on repeat for a good part of my weekend. Capital Cities covers a range of sounds on this upcoming EP;  from the anthemic synth pop single “safe and sound” to the disco/funk inspired “centrestage” there isn’t a bad song on this EP. You can get two versions of the first single “Safe and Sound” for free below and then preview the rest of the EP on their bandcamp page. If you dig it as much as we do, go to iTunes on June 18th and support these guys by purchasing the whole EP next week. Personally, I’m already looking forward to an LP from Capital Cities! These guys are going to be big.

Another band that reached out to us this week from the Cali is Music For Animals. Music For Animals is a San Fran based band who describe themselves as “an audio time-machine”. They’ve been around since about 2006 but just released a new single called City Streets. I hope we can get a few more tracks from them to check out soon. Until then, here is the super catchy, 80s inspired “City Streets”. Let us know what you guys think?
