Chillwave Wednesday XVI

Chillwave Wednesday is back after a short summer vacation. To celebrate the chillwave return, I have three names to look out for this coming year. They’re gonna be big innovators in the genre.

Tropics – Home & Consonance
London based Chris Ward aka Tropics released his Home & Consonance EP in April 29th via Five Easy Pieces. “Lyrically the tracks are about being away from the ones you love, and the confusion of lust and love. It’s emotional and upbeat but also aims to be sordid in parts.” pick up his EP on the Tropics Bandcamp page.

Lane 8 – Every Night
“i’m lane 8 and i make house music which is sometimes a bit serious and other times silly and fun, and then i go and play it for people on large soundsystems.” Daniel Goldstein is the California native behind Lane 8. He’s fairly new on the scene as far as I’m know, releasing a track-or-two every month for the last year. His latest single, “Be Mine” recently got some radio play on BBC 1 and was adopted by Above & Beyond for their Group Therapy mix last month.

JMSN – Love & Pain (Ta-ku Remix)
I love it when an R&B track makes it’s transition to chillwave. Australian producer Ta-ku has taken a JMSN track and done just that. But if you really want to see what this guy is cooking with, you should download his latest album, RE ϟ TWERK Vol II at ta-ku.me.
