Rival Consoles teases new single off upcoming album: “Landscape from Memory”
It’s nuts to think that we first started listening to the music of Ryan Lee West (aka Rival Consoles) almost 10 years ago. This year he is set to release his ninth studio album, and today we had the pleasure of featuring the new single off the record. The single is called “Jupiter” and it will continue to expand on West’s style of stitched-together audio snippets, laid down over a foundation of other-worldly synths.
“At the heart of this piece is a call and response,” explains West when talking about the new track. “The main idea is changing but the response is always the same, this is connected to life and nature. I wanted the music to feel like materials, bending, distorting, shimmering, colourful shards of glass and metal. To me it feels like the sun touching objects with its warmth and power. The track is titled ‘Jupiter’ and references early works of mine called ‘Helios’ and ‘Voyager’, which are all connected to our place in the universe.“
For those who are into Four Tet, Bonobo, Jon Hopkins, and Floating Points, you’re going to like this new album. Stream “Jupiter” below and look out for Landscape from Memory to be released by Erased Tapes on July 4.
