Sampa The Great: The Return
Sampa Tembo (aka Sampa the Great), is a Zambian singer / songwriter based in Melbourne, Australia. Over the past five years, Sampa has been successfully releasing various singles and mixtapes including “The Great Mixtape” and “Blue Boss.” Each new piece of music has helped to hone a unique sound that straddles the world of hip hop, jazz and choir music.
Last month Sampa released her debut album: The Return — an epic nineteen-track LP that features collaborations with Silentjay, Whosane and the Sunburnt Soul Choir.
Built on four years of personal and musical soul-searching, The Return is a confident statement from Sampa The Great. It’s the product of her many meaningful musical connections along her journey as well as a need to redefine her identity away from the comforts of family and old friends.
