Heavy Rotation: an eclectic mix of underground house

Here’s our round-up of our favorite electronic music sent to the blog in October so far. All of this music has been on heavy rotation here at TNLF HQ.

Emanuel Satie x Maga x Mâhfoud – Knockout

Frankfurt-born,Lisbon-based DJ/producer, Emanuel Satie has been on a steady rise since his breakout in 2016. Known for DJ sets that are as immersive as they are boundary-pushing, Emanuel has played the world’s most iconic clubs — Amnesia, Space, Fabric, Pacha, Watergate, D-Edge — and continues to cement himself as a driving force in the underground scene. Here Satie teams up with Maga and Mahfoud to deliver a knockout.

Yamagucci – Miami Mami

Born to a musical family, Japanese DJ and producer Yamagucci grew up in an artist village, and has shaped his signature sound in the electronic music world over the past few years. Using field recordings and organic percussion sounds, his music always delivers a funky unique twist. Today he has released a new single called “Miami Mami” which mixes Latin grooves with pulsing beats and a hypnotic vocal topline. Check it out:

Mischa Blanos – Love In Motion

Born in communist-era Bucharest, Mischa grew up in a rough neighborhood and where his peers found football to escape; for him it was the piano. His new track, “Love In Motion,” is propulsive with pointed synths and a driving percussion. There are connections you could draw to the sore of rave sound that The Chemical Brothers were making in the early 00s but at its heart, the track transforms the club into a metaphor for liberation.

Avivie – Never Be the Same

Indiana-based producer Avivie sets out to create live-first music that bridges minimal house with experimental electronica.

Her new track, “Never Be the Same” is a hypnotic blend of tech house that is built on deep breakdowns, and driving grooves. “I started ‘Never Be the Same’ during my Music Technology days and first played it live at a university show,” explains Avivie when talking about the new track. “Born as a lab experiment and tested on controllers, it kept evolving with me.”
