LA-based boom bap producer, Doza, releases some low key fire on his new single, “Poster Child”
As a kid who grew up on 90s hip hop from New York, I have a built-in bias for that East Coast sound. So it’s not a small thing when a West Coast rapper gets through my filter and makes it onto the blog here. But that’s exactly what happened when LA-based producer and lyricist Anthony Mendoza (aka Doza) sent his new single, “Poster Child,” through to us.

The first thing you notice when listening to “Poster Child” is the attention to detail on the production of the track. Sure, you’ve got a beat where that snare hits and the beat bumps, but all the layers of melody, and harmony create something unique for the genre.
In the small niche of Filipino rappers from America, Doza has started to make a name for himself with a growing crowd of dedicated fans. His music is influenced by his Filipino roots, his home in Los Angeles, and West Coast hip hop culture.
“Poster Child” marks Doza’s first single after a two-year hiatus. And Doza fans will notice that the single uses samples from older hits “Movin’” and “Dope shoes that look like jordan 4s Boy” to bridge the gap between different eras of his career.
