Your LoFix #11 – Relaxing Winter Warmers
Welcome to The LoFix, a column to share some LoFi & Chill Hop that I’ve recently discovered and love. Giving you that fix of chill; something we all need regularly. And if you’re feeling the tracks, do share them with your friends.
As we get to the end of the year and in this eleventh edition of the series we dive into sounds that have been inspired from the winter season, cozy up by the fire and blaze one to these winter warmers.
Cloudchord & Soul Food Horns compliment each other perfectly with their smooth sound and beautiful horns that the group are known for. Teaming up with ProbCause on the vocal duties whose festive rap fits in perfectly with the vibe of the song, no gimmick style here.. Only a smooth jazzrap with conscious lyrical tones.
Ornithology & FloFillz have turned Chet Baker‘s energetic trumpet tune into a laid back jazz cut with a raw roughness about it that I love. Giving the horn sound a floating feeling that is a real pleasure to sit by the fire and get lost in the flickering flames with the ‘Soundbound’ remix.
The title might not be as inventive, but the original sound from this track is incredible with their gentle sax lead and snug piano parts from Gidde. Straight out of Sweden, the multi-instrumentalist has created many more jazzy Christmas songs that you can find on his profile.
I’d love to be able to play Nujabes all day on Christmas but it wouldn’t got down too well with the family, this tune encompasses both the artist and Xmas spirit all in one and I wish Engelwood would drop a full album of this beautiful jazzy sound that is a Christmas delight for any Nujabes fan.
Close your eyes and imagine Santa on the 1’s & 2’s, spinning this rustic piano beat from Jam’addict through the radio airwaves. The artist is only right to suggest the Santa’s Station idea with this beautifully warm melody and subtle xmas vocal chops, this is a nice backdrop for when around the dinner table with the family to keep the spirits moving and glasses flowing.
