Get wrapped up in some gorgeous ambient electronic music with the new Holland Andrews single, “Aura”

Vocalist, composer, producer and performance artist, Holland Andrews, has just sent over this absolutely beautiful ambient electronic piece called “Aura” to us. I’ll be honest, I’m not normally into ambient type stuff, but this one did connect with me in an elemental way.

With their music, Andrews focuses on the abstraction of the operatic voice and ambient electronics to build these sorts of soundscapes. Frequently highlighting themes surrounding vulnerability and healing, Andrews arranges music for voice, clarinet, and electronics. Their composition style weaves together a sprawling emotional tapestry to command space for both discord and intimacy. You can also hear influences from contemporary opera, theater, and jazz, as well as Andrews’ own unique vocal style — integrating these influences with language disintegration, vocal distortion, and environmental ambiance.

Check out the new single, “Aura,” below for a relaxing dive into the Holland Andrews world. And look out for their new EP called “Answers,” (released today as a physical double EP on Nils Frahm’s label, LEITER).
