Agujita & Su Combo

Agujita & Su Combo is a remix concept project created by Dr. OgraL.

Remix concept project?? I love this kind of shit!

Allegedly Dr. OgraL is a graffiti artist in Puerto Rico, but I couldn’t find any of his graf work online (not that this means much) so I’m not sure how good of an artist he might be. His remixes are quite a different story however. You can find them pretty easily, and they are with out a doubt good.

And the part I love is that the remixes aren’t just good, there is a concept behind it all. It’s like… this dude couldn’t be satisfied with just writing a good book, he needed to get all Shakespearian with us create poetry out of his mixes.

Here’s how it works:
There is going to be 7 volumes in the project and each volume will have 12 tracks. This represents the 7 notes in the diatonic scale and the 12 semitones in an octave. Every volume has a duration of 33.3 to 45 minutes which is a nod to the rotational speed of vinyl records (33.3 and 45 R.P.M.)

Supposedly all of this is a metaphorical way to describe continuity. I’m not sure about all that, but the remixes are surprisingly natural sounding for having such strict guidelines to fit into.

Here are two tracks from the second volume of his “ReDo’ series. Check out the full album of Vol. 2 or Vol. 1 on band camp.
