Amen Dunes – Freedom
New York based Damon McMahon (aka Amen Dunes) is back with a brand new album entitled Freedom. If you haven’t heard of him, you should check out his 2011 release called Through Donkey Jaw which was a combination of fantastic songwriting and lo-fi guitar-based reverb and distortion. The album was ahead of it’s time. It’s one of those albums that flew under the radar upon its release but sounds so fresh almost a decade later.
When McMahon’s mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer he embarked on the recording of this latest album called Freedom. It’s a beautiful reverberating tribute to his mother. My favorite singles on the record are “Believe” and “Blue Rose.”
