Crookram’s Latest Album “Through Windows”

I know it’s only late March, but Crookram’s latest album, “Through Windows,” which was released last year is sure to be my favorite album for 2011. I’m a little ashamed for not posting this sooner, as it’s been on heavy repeat this past month. I haven’t heard a studio production like this since the Avalanches LP released in 2000. It’s one of those genre bending albums that takes you on an hour long musical journey. Diplo’s debut album “Florida” comes to mind, or Lemon Jelly’s first album “lemonjelly.ky.”

Through Windows is one of those orchestral albums that you have to listen to all the way through. It creates a soundscape that ranges from hip-hop and soul to downtempo trip-hop. It’s as if Crookram is a musical conductor incorporating all genres into his vision which spans an entire album rather then each song individually.

It was difficult to pick a few singles to sample here for you, but here are a few of my favorites. I urge you to go buy the full album and listen to it all the way through. The entire 19-track album is available on a “name your price” basis for a limited time in your choice of 320k mp3, FLAC, or just about any other format you could possibly desire or imagine.

Not on the album, but just to give you a taste of what this guy can do with a remix. You should also check out Crookram’s collaboration with Sagesse on their hip-hop skewed 2008 release: “Escape, The E.P.
