Angélique Kidjo Covers “Once In A Lifetime”
Came across this very interesting West African cover song of “Once In A Lifetime” by Angelique Kidjo. It’s part of Kidjo’s song-for-song remake of the Talking Heads’ album Remain In Light. The album has held a special place in her heart since 1983. That’s when she first heard it after fleeing communist Benin for Paris. When learning that the song was produced by white artists in American Kidjo said “That’s not rock and roll — that’s African music.”
