Fresh Friday Mix: r beny
This Friday, it’s time to get ambient with Bay Area producer, Austin Cairns (aka r beny).
Cairns created a mix for FLORA this past winter that was meant to compliment the long cold nights of the season. “Gloomy days seem to match my artistic and emotional sensibility,” says Cairns when talking about the mix. “I love the colder seasons. Fall is probably my favorite. It’s amazing to watch the landscape change during these transitional seasons. If Spring is for renewal, then Fall is for letting go. I find comfort in that.”
And while I agree with Cairns on that point, I must say that I’ve just had a listen to the mix again after watching the sunset on a long summer day in London and I think it works just as well in this setting. It becomes a soundtrack for those sleepless summer nights. Heat still comes off the pavements, but all of your windows are open and a slight breeze comes in….
Tracklist for the mix is below, and I’ve included rbeny’s latest single, “echo’s verse” at the bottom of this post.
