Slum Village – Get Dis Money (Misch x Rakei Remix)
As over-achievers go, Tom Misch is right up there. The 18 year old (yes you read that right) composer / guitarist / producer from London dropped my favourite track of 2014, The Journey as part of Soulection White Label 008, and since then he continues to deliver the highest quality combination of atmospheric jazz/electronica & catchy trip-hop beats.
This time he has teamed up with Australia’s Jordan Rakei to deliver a take on one of my favourite neo-soul Hip Hop artists, Slum Village. It’s always risky taking a stab at what is essentially a Hip-hop classic, but with a kicked-back guitar solo, off beat synth’s and a brand new high-hat, the pair have presented a remix that provides a fresh take on a well known track.
