Wiki Chaves
Wiki started playing guitar as a teenager in his hometown Buenos Aires. He grew up covering grunge, punk and hard rock classics with close friends in his parents’ garage. In the early 2000’s he formed the indie rock band Olaguer and released one EP.
After finishing school and doing a long trip around South America he became curious about organic field-recorded sounds. When he returned home he studied classical guitar and charango which led him down the path of becoming a solo recording artist.
In 2011 he moved to San Francisco, California and began listening to and experimenting with electronic music.
In 2017 he launched his first solo album called Camino, an instrumental album inspired by the spirit of a road trip. The album is a blend of different sounds and styles from traditional Argentine folklore, Andean music, electronic and California surf music.
In March 2018, he released his second album, Andante, a continuation of his previous work. This album, more guitar-centric, mixes different influences like Latin American cumbia, ambient techno, downtempo electronic and melodically-driven guitar riffs. The lead single, “Tribal” starts out as a classical Latin American track which slowly morphs into a rhythm filled Cumbia track that will have you up and dancing around a small campfire to.
