Anders Trentemøller hypnotizes you with his new video for “Sleeper”

Over here at The New LoFi we’re big fans of the Danish musician and producer Anders Trentemøller. He’s an artist that has been pushing the boundaries of what electronic music can be… for decades. Whether it be through his countless genre-bending remixes or his live shows where he pioneered the idea to recreated electronic music with real instruments — Trentemøller has been keeping us on our toes.

The video for his latest single “Sleeper” transports us to a misty and monochrome world of the imagination. The film slowly travels over a bridge in this surreal suspension of time. It’s hypnotizing.

And on top of his own work, Trentemøller has been steadily picking up new artists to add to his own label, In My Room. His latest addition to the label is Copenhagen-based producer and songwriter, 2nd Blood (aka Silas Tinglef).

Last year, Tinglef released his debut EP on the In My Room label and now Trentemøller has stepped up to give the rework treatment to one of the EP’s singles: “Turn It Back.”

Trentemøller’s version slows the original down into a brooding groove. It’s steady drums underpin a thick, rubbery bassline, while the vocals sit high above the mix guiding you through. Various synths spark and fire alongside guitars and effects — it’s a masterclass in what a rework can do to a single.

Would you expect anything less from Trentemøller?
