The Moonjacks bring some of that central Californian summer sound with their upcoming LP
Summer is not quite here in the Northern hemisphere, but if there was ever a way to get into that summer spirit, the Moonjacks can help you get there. They’re a rowdy three-piece surf rock band from the sunny central California coast, and they know how to set the tone for summer.
“We’re three best buddies from the Central California Coast who like to skate, party and write loud catchy songs,” explains the guitarist, Gabriel. “[The bassist] Dank and I have been best friends since we were teenagers and we played in a lot of bands together during high school. We got into a lot of trouble as kids; didn’t really do much else other than skate and play music. After high school we skipped on college and decided we wanted to do music full time. We met CJ, the drummer, a couple months after he graduated and then started this band.”
The band is working on their second LP this year and they sent us two new singles off the upcoming album — “Cruisin” and “Lemonade.” The first single is a fun summer song about drinking beer and going to the beach with your buddies. Simple pleasures with good vibes all around. The second single, “Lemonade,” is about summer, lemonade, and falling in a love with an old flame that you never got over. What else is there in life?
