This month the Zurich-based duo, Frowein Pedersen, take over the mix with ten new tracks to push the boundaries of improvisational music.
The aim of this playlist is to try and change the perception of jazz’s rotten public image — an often over-intellectualized, eat-your-vegetables idea of improvisational music. This is not your grandfathers jazz. This is an ever-evolving genre of music that has its roots in that great American tradition. It isn’t trying to mimic ages past. It isn’t trying to stand still inside of a musical paradigm. This is the Jazz Underground.
