Swiss quartet, Meta Zero looks to innovate modern jazz

The Zurich-based quartet, Meta Zero stylistically classifies as jazz. However, the group likes to experiment with new ways of adding their personal sound to the traditional genre.

For their new album, Prometheus, the band plays with timing and pace but all in an avant-garde jazz format. It can be very experimental and free-form at times like on their track “H D 25-1” but more accessible and beautifully composed at other points like on their track “Remain Silent.” The whole album blends together in live-show format that would urge you to listen to it straight the way through rather then pick and choose singles.
