Your LoFix #8 – Grooves for the Summertime

Welcome to The LoFix, a column to share some LoFi & Chill Hop that I’ve recently discovered and love. Giving you that fix of chill; something we all need regularly. And if you’re feeling the tracks, do share them with your friends.

In this eighth edition of the series we dive into grooves for the summertime, as it’s all I can think about now and hyped for the incoming sunshine!

“Man it is hot today!” a perfect sample taken from Pootie Tang and to kick start the Brazillian Summer which I bet many people were wishing they had right now, this UK weather needs to warm up. SoulChef knows how to cook up a fine bossahop beat, with is catchy rough guitar and smooth horn sounds perfect with a piña colada.

A ‘Walk in the Park’ is perfect on a summers evening, but my pal Lil Gromit has now made it even better with this sax driven production. Dropping last week via Soave LoFi, the laid back guitar and beat provide the perfect backdrop for the horns that take centre stage and provide a nice sunset vibe.

FRANZ & Eu93ne come together for ‘Fingertips’ which doesn’t disappoint, giving off a cool minimal jazz band feel that makes me want to hear this song live as my speakers don’t do it the justice of the coolness they’ve come with. The stripped back licks and notes from the guitars flow in sync with the warm bass, sometimes you don’t need loads going on to make a vibe like this, be sure to check FRANZ’s ‘Shades’ EP out now via okwow.

The first time I heard Ruck P was back in 2018 on ChillHop Music and ever since he’s provided some of the smoothest grooves my ears have had the pleasure of hearing! Teaming up with the incredible Stereofox Records for ‘Tayrona’ that has an upbeat groove and pure summer feeling with it’s jazzy guitar, vibrant horns and perfectly timed vocals.

Everyone needs a Siesta in warmer climates and here is the perfect one, giving us a ‘Scent of Summer’ with Chill Ghost Records. A stripped back cut with pleasant guitars and a catchy melody, this artist is new to me too.. So let’s dive in together and see what other beautiful tunes Siesta has.
